3 OF WEST LONDON'S BEST HAPPY HOURS

Aug 5, 2024by My Drinks Club
London is an expensive city, between spending £1,200 a month on a shoe box and the ever-rising price of a Tesco meal deal. Spending £12 on a cocktail or £15 on a double G&T can be painful. That’s why we’ve scoured West London to bring you 3 of the best happy hour deals out there.

You may have come via our eye-catching Instagram post or just stumbled across this article (follow us on Instagram if so). We will look in great detail at these three venues and rate them on the four most important aspects of any happy hour.

Unlike many rating guides, we are not paid or sponsored by these venues. This is a no bullsh*t review, and since we genuinely like these bars, it's all very positive.

FAM BAR LONDON

ADDRESS: 31 Duke St, London W1U 1LG

An incredibly trendy bar in an unreal central location, FAM Bar has quickly established itself as a leading venue in the area. It serves a well-thought-out selection of drinks and a food menu that perfectly complements the setting and drinks offering.

Now for that happy hour review: FAM Bar offers happy hour for more like 3 hours—Wednesday to Saturday from 4pm-7pm, with a legendary all-night happy hour every Tuesday. It’s hard to beat their drinks selection, with some of the best-tasting cocktails in this part of London, all for £8 each. If you prefer something more conventional, you can get draught beers for £4 and double spirits & mixers for £8 (for London this is very well priced). Service is great and the selection is too, which is why FAM Bar has earned a very strong score (see below).

OUR HAPPY HOUR RATING:

  • Happy hour drinks variety: 8.2/10
  • Happy hour pricing: 7.9/10
  • Happy hour times offered: 8.8/10
  • Overall rating: 8.3/10

THE LITTLE YELLOW DOOR

ADDRESS:  6-8 All Saints Road, W11 1H

The Little Yellow Door was an early instalment in the Little Door Co. chain, bridging the gap between getting p*ssed up at home and in a bar. With an interior you'd wish you could afford and a location you'd love to live in, The Little Yellow Door is essentially a better version of your house (mine too).

Now for that happy hour review: The Little Yellow Door takes an unconventional approach to happy hour, offering a singular selection of drinks at an unbelievable price. They’ve realised that 70% of Londoners are living paycheck to paycheck, funding their Soho House membership (we thought it was exclusive?), therefore offering cheap Picantes will appeal to the masses. Happy hour runs 3 hours a day (5pm-8pm), 3 days a week (Mon-Fri), solidifying them as a solid Notting Hill choice.

OUR HAPPY HOUR RATING:

  • Happy hour drinks variety: 4.2/10
  • Happy hour pricing: 8.5/10
  • Happy hour times offered: 6.2/10
  • Overall rating: 6.3/10

SIMMONS BAR SOHO

ADDRESS:  2 Bateman St, London W1D 4AE

There's too much to say about Simmons bar, so we're focusing on a singular West London address: their Soho establishment. While we absolutely hate Soho for a plethora of reasons you'll identify if you go there, Simmons bar is a light at the end of an 'Albanian Mafia' tunnel. It's incredibly clear why Simmons is taking over the London landscape (just like the Albanian Mafia).

Now for that happy hour review: Simmons bar probably has the best happy hour offering in London. While they can't compete with the 90p shots in a grotty bar up north, they do offer £5 doubles (with mixers) in a location where the monthly rent is higher than the GDP of Liechtenstein. For 15 hours a week (including Saturdays), this is an exceptional happy hour offering.

OUR HAPPY HOUR RATING:

  • Happy hour drinks variety: 9.2/10
  • Happy hour pricing: 9.7/10
  • Happy hour times offered: 8.8/10
  • Overall rating: 9.2/10
