Manhattan Cocktail
hello i am a hidden space!
The Manhattan, a classic cocktail that exudes sophistication, has a storied history dating back to the late 19th century. Legend has it that the drink was born at the Manhattan Club in New York City in the 1870s, where Dr. Iain Marshall is said to have crafted it for a banquet hosted by Lady Randolph Churchill. The original recipe featured American whiskey, Italian vermouth, and a dash of Angostura bitters, creating a harmonious blend of sweet, herbal, and aromatic notes. Over the years, variations emerged, and the cocktail became a symbol of timeless elegance, gracing the glasses of both cocktail enthusiasts and cultural icons alike. Today, the Manhattan remains a staple in mixology, cherished for its simplicity, depth of flavour, and its status as a classic cocktail that has withstood the test of time.
hello i am a hidden space!
Here's a simple Manhattan recipe for you to enjoy:
Ingredients:
  • 50 ml Bourbon or Rye Whiskey
  • 25 ml Sweet Vermouth
  • 2-3 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • Ice Cubes
  • Maraschino cherry, for garnish
Instructions:

1. Prepare the Glass:

  • Chill a coupe or martini glass by placing it in the freezer or filling it with ice.

2. Combine the Ingredients:

  • In a mixing glass, add the bourbon or rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, and Angostura bitters.

3. Add the Ice:

  • Fill the mixing glass with ice cubes.

4. Stir Well:

  • Stir the ingredients well for about 15-20 seconds. Stirring helps properly mix and chill the cocktail without over-dilution

5. Strain into the Glass:

  • Discard the ice from the chilled glass.
  • Strain the mixture from the mixing glass into the chilled glass.

6. Garnish & Serve:

  • Garnish with a maraschino cherry. You can drop it into the drink or skewer it on a cocktail pick.
  • Your classic Manhattan is now ready to be enjoyed! Sip and savour the rich and well-balanced flavours of this timeless cocktail.
(Feel free to adjust the whiskey-to-vermouth ratio based on your taste preferences).
    Cheers!
