hello i am a hidden space!
The Mojito, a refreshing and iconic Cuban cocktail, has a history deeply rooted in the Caribbean's vibrant culture. Originating in Havana, Cuba, the cocktail's roots can be traced back to the 16th century when an early version was consumed for medicinal purposes. However, it gained widespread popularity in the 20th century, particularly in the bars around La Bodeguita del Medio and El Floridita, frequented by luminaries like Ernest Hemingway. The classic Mojito recipe involves muddling fresh mint leaves and sugar, then adding lime juice and white rum, topped with soda water and ice. The resulting concoction is a harmonious blend of sweetness, citrusy tang, and the herbaceous freshness of mint, making the Mojito a beloved and timeless warm-weather libation enjoyed by cocktail enthusiasts worldwide.
hello i am a hidden space!
Here's a simple Mojito recipe for you to enjoy:
Ingredients:
  • 50 ml White Rum
  • 15 ml Sugar Syrup
  • 150 ml Soda Water
  • Crushed Ice
  • 8-10 Fresh Mint Leaves
  • 3-4 Lime Wedges
  • Mint sprig, for garnish
Instructions:

1. Muddle Mint, Lime Wedges and Add the Sugar Syrup:

  • In a glass, muddle the fresh mint leaves and 2-3 lime wedges. Muddle gently to release the mint's flavour without tearing it too much.
  • Add the sugar syrup to the muddled mixture.

2. Add White Rum:

  • Pour the white rum into the glass.

3. Add Crushed Ice:

  • Top up the glass with the crushed ice, you want use enough to fill the glass just below the rim.

4. Add Soda Water & Stir Well:

  • Top up the glass with soda water. Adjust the amount to your desired level, however we would recommend 150 ml for an even mix of flavours.
  • Stir the ingredients well, you want to stir upwards to ensure the initial flavours mix well with the soda water.

5. Garnish & Serve:

  • Garnish with a remaining lime wedges and a sprig of mint. You can also slap the mint between your hands before placing it on top to release its aroma.
  • Your classic Mojito is now ready to be enjoyed! Sip and relish the refreshing combination of mint, lime, and rum.
(Feel free to adjust the ratios based on your taste preferences, and enjoy this iconic and refreshing cocktail).
      Cheers!
