HOW TO MAKE A PENICILLIN
Ingredients:
- 50 ml Blended Scotch Whisky
- 25 ml Fresh Lemon Juice
- 15 ml Ginger Liqueur
- 1 tsp Honey
- 10 ml Islay Scotch Whisky
- Ice Cubes
- Candied ginger or a lemon twist, for garnish
1. Prepare the Glass:
- Chill a rocks glass by placing it in the freezer or filling it with ice.
2. Combine the Ingredients:
- In a shaker, add blended Scotch whisky, fresh lemon juice, ginger liqueur and the honey.
3. Add the Ice & Shake Well:
- Fill the shaker with ice cubes.
- Shake the ingredients vigorously for about 10-15 seconds to chill the mixture.
4. Strain into the Glass:
- Discard the ice from the glass (or take it out of the freezer).
- Strain the mixture from the shaker into the rocks glass.
5. Top with Islay Whisky:
- Gently pour the Islay Scotch over the back of a spoon onto the surface of the cocktail. This adds a smoky layer to the drink.
6. Garnish (optional) & Serve:
- Garnish with a piece of candied ginger or a lemon twist.
