Vesper Martini
hello i am a hidden space!
The Vesper Martini, a sleek and potent cocktail, was immortalised in Ian Fleming's James Bond novel, "Casino Royale," published in 1953. Named after the enticing Vesper Lynd, a character in the novel, this martini became an instant classic. Comprising gin, vodka, and Lillet Blanc, the Vesper is renowned for its crisp and complex flavour profile. The story unfolds as James Bond specifies his preference for a particular gin, vodka, and a twist of lemon, creating the iconic Vesper recipe. Although the exact ratios of ingredients have varied over time, the Vesper Martini remains a symbol of sophistication and daring, reflecting Bond's preference for a drink as sharp and alluring as the spy who made it famous.
hello i am a hidden space!
Here's a simple Vesper Martini recipe for you to enjoy:
Ingredients:
Instructions:

1. Chill the Glass:

  • Place a martini glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to chill while you prepare the ingredients.

2. Combine the Ingredients:

  • Add the London Dry Gin, vodka and Lillet Blanc to a cocktail shaker and add the ice cubes.

3. Shakes Not Stirred:

  • Shake the ingredients for about 15-20 seconds. This will aerate and cool the drink far better than stirring will. Just like the big man himself, have your Vesper Martini shaken not stirred.
  • On a side note, for anyone who says you should stir a Vesper Martini; you're wrong.

4. Strain into the Glass:

  • Discard the ice from the chilled martini glass.
  • Double strain the mixture from the cocktail shaker into the glass.

5. Express the Lemon Peel:

  • Hold a lemon peel over the drink and give it a twist to release its oils. Optionally, run the peel around the rim of the glass.

6. Garnish & Serve:

  • Drop the lemon peel into the glass as a garnish.
  • Your Vesper Martini is now ready to be enjoyed! Sip and savour the crisp and sophisticated flavours of this classic cocktail.
(Feel free to adjust the ratios to your taste preferences, and enjoy the timeless classic that is the Vesper Martini).
      Cheers!
