WHERE TO DRINK THIS CHRISTMAS: LONDON 2024

Nov 17, 2024by My Drinks Club
Christmas in England: a magical time when we all aim to spend as much money as possible—and the only season where drinking at 10 a.m. is not just acceptable, but encouraged.

We’re a nation of great establishments and even greater drinkers, but let’s face it: for every gem, there’s plenty of sh*t out there. And no, a bit of tinsel blue-tacked to a bar doesn’t make it festive—especially when they follow up with a £7.50 pint.

That’s why My Daddy Drinks Club is here: to deliver the crème de la crème of drinking venues this festive season. Unlike many rating guides, we’re not paid or sponsored by these spots. This is a no bullsh*t review, and because we genuinely love these places, our feedback is unapologetically positive.

And yes, you might be thinking: “Isn’t this counterproductive since you sell alcohol?” You’d be right. But we’d rather you spend your money on better drinks in better places. Plus, if you spend most of your money going out, you have even more of a reason to join our free to join Drinks Club and save money across hundreds of the best products you may have never heard of.

THE CHURCHILL ARMS

119 KENSINGTON CHURCH STREET, LONDON, W8 7LN

If Christmas could be captured and stuffed into a pub, it would be The Churchill Arms. Located in Kensington, this iconic spot is famous year-round for its floral displays, but during the festive season, it truly shines. Picture walls and ceilings drenched in twinkling lights, garlands, and baubles—it’s like stepping into Santa’s grotto. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and delightfully traditional, making it the perfect place for a festive pint or two. It's a great spot for those seeking cozy holiday vibes without venturing too far from classic British pub charm.
WE RECOMMEND: Mulled Wine – Why reinvent the wheel? A classic that’s done to perfection here, served piping hot with just the right blend of spices and citrus.

MIRACLE AT HENRIETTA

HENRIETTA HOTEL, 14-15 HENRIETTA STREET, LONDON, WC2E 8QH

Step into a retro holiday dream at Miracle, the festive pop-up bar at Henrietta in Covent Garden. This kitschy wonderland, inspired by the iconic American Christmas bar concept, goes all out with over-the-top décor, think tinsel, colourful lights, and vintage holiday knick-knacks. The vibe is fun, nostalgic, and unapologetically cheerful. Drinks here are as playful as the setting, featuring quirky names and flavours that feel like Christmas in a glass. Miracle is ideal for those who love a mix of holiday nostalgia and festive flair with a side of Instagrammable charm.

WE RECOMMEND: Snowball Old Fashioned – A playful twist on the classic bourbon cocktail, featuring caramel and cinnamon for that perfect holiday warmth.

PERGOLA BRIXTON

BRIXTON VILLAGE, COLDHARBOUR LANE, LONDON, SW9 8PS

Pergola Brixton turns its iconic rooftop into a winter escape, offering cozy vibes under a canopy of twinkling lights. With heaters, blankets, and holiday décor, it’s a snug spot to escape the cold while enjoying festive drinks and bites. The relaxed atmosphere, combined with street food vendors, makes it an ideal place for casual gatherings with friends. Whether you’re enjoying a seasonal cocktail or sharing snacks, Pergola Brixton nails the laid-back yet festive vibe. Bonus: the panoramic views of Brixton add a magical touch to your night.

WE RECOMMEND: Winter Spiced Negroni – This festive take on the classic cocktail adds seasonal spices to balance the bitter and sweet flavours, perfect for gin lovers.

THE NED

27 POULTRY, LONDON, EC2R 8AJ

Looking for luxury this Christmas? The Ned is the answer. This grand venue exudes elegance, with stunning décor and live music filling the air. Whether you're sipping on cocktails at one of their bars or dining at a festive feast, every corner of The Ned feels indulgent. It’s the kind of place where the holidays feel extra special, and the combination of opulence and warmth makes it ideal for a sophisticated night out. Whether you're celebrating with colleagues, friends, or a date, The Ned’s festive offerings guarantee a memorable experience.

WE RECOMMEND: Hot Buttered Rum – Silky, rich, and spiced to perfection, this decadent drink will keep you cozy all evening.

COPPA CLUB

3 THREE QUAYS WALK, LOWER THAMES STREET, LONDON, EC3R 6AH
If you’re after a magical Christmas setting, Coppa Club’s iconic riverside igloos have you covered—literally. These clear domes, decorated with fairy lights and cozy furnishings, offer unbeatable views of Tower Bridge. The intimate, festive atmosphere is perfect for gatherings or romantic evenings. The drinks menu offers a mix of festive cocktails and winter warmers, while their seasonal nibbles are the perfect accompaniment. Few venues feel as magical as Coppa Club during the holiday season, and it’s no wonder their igloos are a London favourite.
WE RECOMMEND: Winter Berry Spritz – A bubbly festive delight with prosecco, cranberry, and spiced syrup, perfect for celebrating the season.

QUEEN OF HOXTON

1 CURTAIN ROAD, LONDON, WC2A 3JX

Known for its creative rooftop transformations, the Queen of Hoxton goes all out every Christmas. This year’s theme, Arctic Wonderland, brings a frosty winter aesthetic with snowy décor, fire pits, and plenty of cozy corners. The rooftop is a lively hub of festive fun, complete with quirky cocktails and a buzzing atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot for a night out with friends or a fun date, offering a mix of edgy East London vibes and festive cheer.
WE RECOMMEND: Spiced Hot Chocolate with Rum – Rich, chocolatey, and with a boozy kick, this drink is both indulgent and warming, ideal for sipping by the fire pits.
