Chartreuse Green derives its distinctive character from a blend of 130 plants, including flowers, bark, roots, and spices, which impart its natural colour, potency, and aromatic complexity. The process of crafting this extraordinary liqueur spans several weeks and involves various stages: the monks at the Grande Chartreuse monastery carefully grind the botanicals in the plant room, followed by distillation to capture their captivating aroma. Different types of maceration are employed to extract the plants' active ingredients, infusing the liquor with its enchanting natural colour.

Once the intricate production is complete, Chartreuse Green is left to age gracefully in oak casks for an extended period, enhancing its depth and allowing it to evolve, continually developing its complexity even after bottling. The result is a mesmerising Chartreuse liqueur with a captivating green hue and a powerful, herbaceous, and peppery nose. Upon tasting, a fresh palate unveils delightful notes of mint, pine sap, and citrus fruits, harmonising in a bittersweet tea-like finish that lingers on the tongue. Ideal as a digestif to savour and explore its rich flavours and aromatic potency, it is best served chilled between 12°C and 13°C or poured over ice. Moreover, this exquisite liqueur has been cherished in cocktails and employed in sweet or savoury recipes since the 19th century, adding a truly unique and captivating character to any culinary creation.

In 1840, the remarkable "Liqueur de Santé" emerged as the first-ever liqueur crafted from the original recipe of the renowned Elixir Végétal de la Grande Chartreuse. Its immense popularity led Father Garnier, the responsible attorney for the liqueurs at that time, to officially christen it as 'Chartreuse Verte', solidifying its identity and subsequently registering the prestigious “Chartreuse” trademark in 1852. Today, this exceptional elixir continues to be skilfully produced and meticulously crafted by the Chartreux Fathers at their Aiguenoire distillery in Entre-Deux-Guiers, nestled in the scenic region of Isère, France.
