Situated at the highest point of the Northern railway line, standing 600 feet above sea level, the Ardmore distillery commands a prominent position. In close proximity to the small village of Kennethmont, its strategic location near the railway line played a pivotal role in the distillery's flourishing history. Founder Adam Teacher capitalised on this advantage, effortlessly transporting materials from Glasgow to this remote corner of Aberdeenshire, thereby facilitating the distillery's growth and success.
Since its inception, the Ardmore distillery has remained virtually unchanged, preserving the essence of Adam Teacher's original vision. The pristine water used in the production process is still sourced from the naturally rising springs nestled on the magnificent Knockandy Hill, a towering peak reaching a staggering height of 1,500 feet.
Embracing the rugged fringes of the Highlands, the inhabitants of this region revel in the freedom and grandeur of the great outdoors. The Ardmore distillery encapsulates this untamed spirit, harnessing the power of nature within each and every drop that embarks on its transformative journey from the distillery's hallowed grounds.
