Old Pulteney is a single malt whisky distillery located in the coastal town of Wick, in the far north-east of Scotland. It was established in 1826 by James Henderson and has been producing whisky ever since, surviving several changes of ownership and periods of closure. The distillery is known for its distinctive maritime character, which comes from the influence of the nearby North Sea on the whisky's flavour and maturation. Old Pulteney's whiskies are also notable for their honeyed sweetness, fruitiness, and spicy notes, which are the result of the distillery's traditional production methods, including slow distillation and maturation in oak casks.
