Spot Whiskey has its origins with Mitchell & Son, a Dublin-based wine and spirits merchant established in 1805 and renowned as a family-owned enterprise spanning over seven generations. In the early 1900s, the Mitchell family began crafting and blending their own whiskeys, using coloured spot markers to denote various ages of the spirit, thus giving rise to the Spot Whiskey brand.
The range once comprised four expressions, each distinguished by a different coloured spot marker: Green Spot, Yellow Spot, Red Spot, and Blue Spot, with Green Spot emerging as the flagship offering. Despite challenges faced during the mid-20th century due to the Irish whiskey industry's decline, the brand experienced a resurgence later in the century. Today, the Spot Whiskey lineup features Green Spot and Yellow Spot, both revered for their quality and craftsmanship, with a legacy rooted in honouring Ireland's rich whiskey-making tradition.
