Glenkinchie Distillers Edition Whisky is a testament to the master-craftsmanship that characterises each cask in this esteemed series. Each cask is individually selected and carefully matched to the unique character of the single malts refined at the distillery. A two-parted maturation process is employed to enhance the depth and complexity of each whisky, a hallmark of the limited Distillers Edition. This process is designed to preserve the perfection of the already award-winning single malts, while more strongly accentuating the carefully selected taste nuances.

As a result Glenkinchie Distillers Edition Whisky greets the nose with peppery and spicy aromas, accompanied by subtle hints of orange peel, boiled sweets, and oak. On the palate, a warm and rich entry awaits, complemented by soft sherry, notes of molasses, and walnut. The finish is a delightful blend of nutty malt and fruit flavours, with allspice notes leading the way. This enticing taste lingers on the palate and the back of the throat, with trailing hints of oak and nutty notes, leaving a satisfying and memorable aftertaste.

Founded in 1825 by farmers John and George Rate, Glenkinchie operated under the name Milton Distillery until it was licensed and renamed in 1837. The new name came from the Kinchie Burn running through the glen, which itself derives its name from “de Quincey” who originally owned the land and burn. It was later rebuilt into the redbrick Victorian masterpiece you'll see today, complete with houses for the workers, bowling green, those two fat old copper pot stills and the largest wash still in the industry.

Glenkinchie is just fifteen miles from the capital, earning it the title “The Edinburgh Malt”, but it's strange to think of that dark and distinguished city when you see fields of barley or the green Lammermuir Hills rolling north towards the Firth of Forth.
