The Limousin oak used in the casks is sourced from the Dordogne region of France, where it is traditionally used to mature cognacs. The wood's low density allows the whisky to penetrate deep into its fibres, imparting a unique and delightful spiciness that is carefully balanced by The Glenlivet's expert blenders.

Founded by George Smith, The Glenlivet was the first licensed distillery in the parish of Glenlivet and quickly became a popular whisky among the Scottish elite.
